2 June 2001, Arrived in Newport

We have arrived in Newport, Rhode Island

Greetings from spaceship:

- We are safely anchored in Newport, Rhode Island.

- We got in Friday evening, 01 June, in beautiful sunshine and easy winds.

 - Today, 02 June, a "warm" front is passing from south to north with 35 kt gusts and sheets of rain. It's 55 degrees chilly, and foggy. Are we rushing the season?

- Will be here a few days, maybe a week. Maybe we are chicken but we have to buy foul weather gear and boots.

- Coming up from Cape Hatteras (5 nights at sea), we rode the Gulf Stream then turned N for Newport still 350 miles away.

- We were hit by two force 10 (55 knot) squalls, the boat did fine.

- In Florida we had the cockpit enclosed with zippered sheets of plastic and it's the first time we have sailed in this kind of weather and stayed dry!

- We can receive calls on the cell phone and send and receive e-mail now that we are near shore. (When we are out of range, you can still leave voice messages for us and, of course, you can always send e-mail which we can pick up later.)

- Wish you were here to endure the adventures of wind and weather.... and lobster dinners ashore.... and new warm foul weather gear... and.... who knows?

With lust, like, or love which ever applies.
