1 March 2000, Trinidad, Carnival

We're here in Trinidad getting ready for Carnival. We arrived on Monday 000228 after a delightful sail down here at 10 degrees, 40 minutes south with NE winds almost all the way. The hydrovane self-steering rudder kept us on course day and night. It's better than another crew member. It doesn't need to be fed and it never needs to sleep and it doesn't talk back. The night sky was full of stars - the Big Dipper in the north, Orion overhead, and the Southern Cross in the south. In the early am, Scorpius and the Teapot would come up from the eastern horizon.  Trinidad's Carnival is probably the biggest except for Rio. Trinidad actually starts getting ready right after Christmas and there are lots of activities to go to before the actual carnival on the 6th and 7th of March.

More later,

Love to all from the crew of Spaceship Earth
